More On Scheduling Outlook Errors

Microsoft Outlook cannot be considered as just an email client, it contains additional features like reminders, calendar, task lists, auto reply options etc. It is not only possible to schedule a meeting or an event, but also coordinate events and meetings with other people in the same Microsoft Exchange server. You may encounter errors labeled “Unable to connect to Server” while using the Microsoft Outlook program. Let us look into the details of these Outlook problems.

Server Connections

When Outlook is started for the first time, it automatically searches for an Exchange Server. Exchange server is the place where all the emails, events and users are stored permanently. If the Outlook program was successful in connecting with the server, it will connect and synchronize your data to a local storage area, including tasks, emails, contacts and meetings. If the Outlook program is unable to connect to the Exchange Server, it will work in offline mode with the data that is already available in your computer.
Lookups

Another very useful feature of the Outlook and Exchange is its ability to review other user’s schedules when setting up a meeting with them. This will be only possible when you are connected to the Exchange Server. If your computer is not connected to the network, or if there is a problem in the network between the server and your computer or if the Exchange Server is temporarily down, the Outlook program will not be able to look up other user’s calendars to see if they are available.
Drops in the Connection

You may be successful in establishing the connection with the Exchange Sever at times and then the connection may get interrupted. If you were trying to change an existing meeting schedule and were to send out an update to a participant, or if you were half way through making a meeting notice when the connection was interrupted, you will get an error message on the connection being lost and being unable to complete the scheduling. You need not worry about this, as you can save the meeting locally and send it at a later time when the connection is reestablished.
These are some of the basic ‘Unable to connect to Server’ errors that the Outlook program encounters. If you want to know more on these issues, you may visit the Outlook problems module of the Microsoft web site or you may contact Microsoft support for further assistance.
